It was going to be ‘in’ the cashier had told me as they rang up the patterned mushroom dress. Filling me in on the up-and-coming look and how the fabric was going to appear on “Abbot Elementary.”
At the time the information was neither here nor there to me. I simply liked the fun pattern and the dress actually fit me. I also happened to be supporting one of my favorite local boutiques in Crystal Lake, Ms. Bossy Boots. To top it off it was Ladies Night Out and there was a sale!
The Mushroom Dress
As one of my new favorite dresses, I arrived at my first day of Summerfest wearing it.
Here’s the thing, dresses are a breeze. There’s no thought, it is the outfit.
Full disclosure: I am not a fashion blogger, just a human trying to dress myself. And on days even that’s a challenge. My go-to has become yoga pants and a simple basic t-shirt.
But festivals do have that excitement of experimenting with outfits and like the runway have the opportunity to become art. Summerfest is one of the more laidback festivals, but I did want to include my outfits as part of my experience!
With all this said I am not an accessory woman or a huge makeup person. For practical reasons, I carry a purse on rare occasions, like if my pockets are less functional or I have no pockets.
My purse of course has a lot of spunk and looks like a camera!
All in all, the mushroom dress was the outfit.
For Sale
And the cashier was right, it was trendy. It’s so trendy in fact that in one of the market areas at Summerfest, my dress was for sale. Awkward!
My mom and my sister both sew. Therefore, I have grown up with unique homemade items. If it’s not homemade it’s usually pieces I’ve picked up a while ago or are hand-me-downs. They are simply vintage pieces.
This “so trendy” I’m wearing what they are selling happened to be a new situation for me!
I had to convince myself that it was okay and that I just happened to be ahead of it. I was wearing it before it was cool.
Summerfest was a blast, and I was able to capture the day in a fun trendy mushroom dress!
I so enjoyed reading this story! The dress is fun and spunky, just like the girl wearing it 😉 I am glad you bought it!
I’m glad I bought it too! It is such a fun summer outfit!
