I had always wrinkled my nose up at a food court. The concept brought up old middle school memories of the mall. The good old American mall food court, like the one in Stranger Things! This was definitely not that. Revival Food Hall challenged my perception of what a food court actually was and could be. To be honest it reminds me a lot more of an international food market.
Most vendors were local small shops from around Chicago. In that way, it reminded me of an indoor mini-Taste of Chicago. There were lots of great options!
The venue was crisp, clean, and airy. In a large open room with plenty of space to wander. The tables seemed to be strategically placed and did not crowd or confuse the room. There were sets of tables at the food stand areas mimicking a restaurant vibe instead of the mall-style of throwing tables packed together in the center of the area.
I appreciated the openness as I wandered around from vendor to vendor taking in my many options.
For dinner, it seemed as if only half or so of the vendors were open and yet I was overwhelmed with choices.
Depending on the time of day there are different vendors open to meet those meal needs.
After taking most of it in I decided on a BBQ Ranch sandwich from Bianca’s Burger. For $10.00 I got a whole lot of sandwich!
When my order was called I grabbed a seat and waited for my sister to arrive.
She arrived shortly after I began to dig in!
Why I Like Revival Food Hall
Here’s one of the many things I found out that I liked about the food court. At that moment I could continue to chow down on food while my sister ordered her meal from a different restaurant than me.
In fact, the more I thought about it, the more perfect this food court style venue was.
It wasn’t a restaurant where you had to have the entire party present to be seated, which is such a struggle when everyone is meeting up!
It wasn’t just one place, so there was no trying to decide on a food genre to fit the group.
Oh, and there was no confusion about how to split the meal bill at the end of the restaurant experience. Also, different options meant various price points. So you could pick a meal that fits your wallet’s needs.
Plus Revival offers fun events like trivia and karaoke on certain nights as well.
My large burger was so delicious! In that first bite, I got a sweet crunch. No literally, my sandwich had a sweetness to it! It was just bursting with flavor and texture.
Another great part about the food court was there was no rush to the meal. Maybe it’s just me but a server/waiter at times presents the idea to keep the meal moving.
After we both had finished our meal, it was time to walk on over to the Nederlander and go “Into The Woods!”
But first, we wandered off our path… for photos of the tulips!
