It was not sweater weather, at least not for this part of the day. I got too hot in my blue and white striped sweater walking to Redhot Ranch before the Chicago Cubs game.
The joy of spring is the estimation and layering that never seems to pan out.
We walked quickly to ensure we had time to eat before heading over to the game. The free winter hat giveaway on this almost 60-degree spring day had us wanting to line up at Wrigley’s gate at door opening time!
Dining at Redhot Ranch
Yet in the moment I was excited to finally try this burger that my boyfriend had been hyping up for a while.
Although the day had been a bit spontaneous (we purchased Cubs day-of tickets) we made sure to have cash on hand. This was for sure a cash-only establishment.
When we got in, we knew exactly what to order. We both went for the RHR Cheeseburger and fries. It felt like such a “steal into a home run” at only $6.10!
After we ordered we went and snagged a table. The place was a simple, Chicago no-frills diner.
The food was super yummy! The sauce on the burger had a really great flavor that balanced all the veggies (lettuce, tomato, onion) it was topped with.
These fries though were the highlight for me. They were the nice thick-cut fries where you can really experience the potato. Skinny fries are usually just too crunchy for me, these potato-forward thick slices are where it’s at!
From the ordering area, we grabbed a bottle of ketchup which went well with the fries. I really like to send my fries for a dip in a puddle of ketchup!
The deal was definitely more sweet being that the fries were included in the burger price.
Once everything was devoured, we headed out ready for an afternoon of baseball!
What a fun little story! I enjoyed reading it!
