The Cozy industrial vibe and the low lights of the Parlor Pizza Bar in Wicker Park were relaxing after a busy start to the week. We settled into our giant welcoming booth that could have easily sat 6.
Looking at a full-page happy hour menu, which, by the way, is extremely rare, I landed on the Honey Boo Boo Pizza. The Carmalized onions stuck out to me, as I am a huge fan! As a sweets girl, this honeyed-up pizza had my order. I ‘peared’ it with a pink margarita. The Prickly Pear Margarita, a bit out of my wheelhouse (I usually go sweeter) was delicious and worked well with the pizza. As an adult, I know everything can’t be sugary (or can it?!)
Normally when we go to pizza places we expect a longer wait between ordering and the food arriving. So we were pleasantly surprised when 2 sips into our drinks, which also came up fast, the pizza appeared.
We dug into our artisan pizza.
The Flavors
The Honey Boo Boo delivered all the flavors! The honey drizzle sweetened the dish without overwhelming the cheese-based pizza. I could taste the caramelized onions that seemed to pop into each bite. Although each ingredient shined they didn’t collide but instead harmonized. It’s the perfect blend for a sweet meal.
I also got a slice of the Sgt. Pepper, my boyfriend’s pick, as the Happy Hour pizza deal is a BOGO. It was. As one would expect from the name, peppery. That one ingredient stood alone as the solo unique flavor in what had otherwise been an ordinary pepperoni pizza. Which was exactly what we wanted when we ordered. A safe bet as the Honey Boo Boo was our wild card. The pepperoni also gave us some protein as the Honey Boo Boo was meatless.
Overall we enjoyed the endless options for happy hour. Next time we go we might try their appetizers! The pizza was also really flavorful with unique options to try. I will honestly recommend the Honey Boo Boo pizza to anyone!
