Ah, the Goo Goo Dolls‘ August 22nd set at Northerly Island. What a night to remember! It’s hard to believe that it’s been so many years since I first fell in love with their music. And of course, I can’t forget to mention the breathtaking view of the Chicago skyline. The twinkling lights of the city provided a stunning backdrop to the music, and it felt like the perfect setting for a night of nostalgia and timeless rock.
The evening kicked off with the band O.A.R. as the opener, and they set the perfect tone for the night. Their blend of rock and folk-infused melodies had the crowd swaying and singing along. It was a fitting choice to warm up the crowd for the Goo Goo Dolls.
As the group took the stage, there was a collective rush of excitement in the air. The band, despite the years, had aged like fine wine, and it was evident in their performance. Johnny Rzeznik’s voice still had that signature rasp and emotion that made their songs so timeless. He may have a few more lines on his face, but the passion was as strong as ever.
