An Ever After in Festival Wear

After I helped assist with our first home project, tiling, by putting Cinderella’s scrubbing skills to shame; I was looking for a fashion risk through festival wear. However, how can you compete with the ultimate make-over? Especially one that includes a glass slipper. I’m personally more of a sneaker’s woman myself.

Our first home project also happened to coincide with Summerfest! So, I of course needed something to wear to the ball (fest!)

I “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-boo”(ed) out of my housework clothing. From my boyfriend’s sport-shorts and graphic t-shirt to something a bit more fest-worthy!

Inspired by what Ruby Waters had worn on stage at Summerfest I finally took the tags off my own pleated skirt. The skirt itself came from the sales rack and was an implosive buy. After months of hanging in my closet (at least it made it out of the bag!) it was finally going on a spin to the streets.

The light blue plaid skirt was paired with a Lincoln Park t-shirt courtesy of my boyfriend.

Honestly, after years of sharing clothing with my sisters, it’s kind of natural to ‘steal’ from my boyfriend! I’m just helping the environment.

The 90s influence was strong in the look and was a bit of a safety net, to be honest. If the look failed, I could always claim it was a period piece. Or simply nostalgic. I even added a blue Jean jacket to the mix. Luckily, I did not have knee-high socks and had to stick to a simple black ankle-length pair.

For a fashion risk, it felt fun! The 90s rocker grunge vibe took off into an I don’t care what you think attitude. In a small way, it manifested in someone shy!

Functional Festival wear

During the start of Summerfest, the long as my skirt blue jean jacket acted more as an accessory, hanging over my pink camera purse. It quickly became a necessity though as the evening became chilly for a summer’s night. By the time our headliner, Yellow Card came on I sure was glad I had brought it along! Plus, the long sleeves kept my arms mostly bug-bite-free.

We left the fest grounds before midnight! With both sneakers on my feet, our car headed back home to Illinois. Tomorrow I would exchange my fest outfit for housework ware again. As we worked once more on grouting the basement floor. Only a remanence of sparkle on my face from the night’s glitter eyeshadow.
