A Lakeview Adventure: Half in Half Out

My sister, my mom, and I were off on a Lakeview lunch adventure. It wasn’t supposed to be that, an adventure. I thought I had found a spot but, in our hunger, we hastily left without checking to see if it was indeed open for lunch. We walked all the way there to find it closed.

Luckily, across the street, Bitter Pops was open and very much alive! So we went in.

We sat ourselves at a long counter-like table. The windows swung open on this beautiful day. The patio ahead of us, starting to fill up.

Soon after we walked ourselves to the order window, where we began looking at the menu board.  All of its items were $15 or less! I ordered their seasonal Buffalo Sandwich for $10.99. The cashier was friendly and patient as we took a while to make decisions.

She also explained how the setup worked. We would receive a text message when our food was ready and then we could pick it up at the counter.

Back at our table, we enjoyed the start of patio season without fully being outdoors.

One thing to know is that I am not a patio girl! I get it Chicago patio season is such a vibe. I do, however, love the open-air windows. You get the best of both worlds, fresh air with the security of a building: fewer bees, bugs, and sun (I burn really easily!)

In no time our phones were buzzing with a text message to pick up our food.

In Lakeview and Saved by a pile of napkins

From the first bite of deliciousness, I knew my sandwich was gonna cause me trouble. The sauce dripped off the sandwich and onto my hands and tray. The messiest things are usually the best and they happen to be my go-to!

I glanced over at my sister who was eating her Buffalo Spice Bowl with ease and a fork! My mom was also dunking her Large Bavarian Pretzel in her Beer Cheese without napkin assistance. Meanwhile, my napkin pile was mounting.

It was worth the mess. Every single bite was so good. It was full of flavor but not so spicy you couldn’t eat it. The veggies, carrots, and such added texture to the mix.

Luckily my new cat shirt remained unharmed, however, my leggings were not as lucky. Caught on tape was the moment a carrot made a great escape and landed right on my lap. Creating a bit of a mess. My sister and mom may never take me out again!

Soon all that remained was my stack of napkins piled high, on the tray. The three of us had devoured our meals!

Ready to go we cleaned up and returned our dishes on the way out. We walked all the way home on a full belly.
